OK, you’ve installed anti-virus and anti-spy-ware tools. You’ve downloaded the latest updates to them, keeping the definitions current. You don’t visit porn or hacker sites, and you don’t click on any bogus-looking ads. Bottom line is, you’re a safe and responsible Internet surfer. But did you know that in spite of your best precautions, you can still become infected with a virus? And just by going to a website!
As reported by the security website Websense, USA Today unwittingly hosted a Flash banner ad on their website, which contained malicious code. Visitors to their website had their computers infected just by going to the site. Within days other websites were found with similar malicious ad banners. Read the rest of this entry »
